First: my Artichoke Skirt. My husband named it that because it is extremely reminiscent of my favorite Mid-Century lighting fixture, the Artichoke Lamp. I wore it to church and it was repeatedly referred to as the mini flamenco dress, because the ruffles start really low on my hips. It is totally accurate. I almost busted out in "Chiquita Banana" a few times.
I first saw this idea here (via Craft Rookie), and fell in love with it. Probably the boots more than the skirt, but I had a ton of muslin lying around and thought it was a good way to use it up. I think I still have 4 yars of plain white left. Scary huh. I think I had 3 more ruffle layers than Alisa's, so it poofs like crazy, and I also finished my edges with a serger because... I wanted to. And it is HOT! But I looooooove it and now I really need me a pair of boots.
This skirt needs mentioning at Today's Creative Blog. So I'm linking.
Mostly I haven't been getting anything truly impressive done because I have been working on these like... all the time. I have been blown away by the generosity of so many people willing to help me in my project. I may be dreaming in Fire Engines lately, but I am so, so impressed with the compassion that exists out there! Today is Kari's birthday, and I am hoping to make the looooong trek out to see her this evening. Crash the Birthday Bash! I hope I "show up" when they bust out a cake ;)
I am excited for this week! The giveaway will run until Sunday, May 16th in the late evening sometime. Before I go to bed, I'll turn off comments. I have half the binding tacked down, and hope to finish the rest of it during nap time today. I'll post pictures, I promise!!!
I had a follower from Scotland ask if this was open internationally, and I hadn't thought about that! I calculated shipping costs from Scottsdale to Scotland (doesn't that make you giggle?) and... my eyes nearly popped out of my head. I'm going to limit the giveaway from here on out to just US and Canada. And Lee Ann in Scotland. :) Which sounds like a nice place to vacation, yes?
Thanks peeps. I will write out a pattern for the runner for anyone who wants to make one for themselves!

Your skirt turned out super cute! And the almost 1 year old's skirt too :)
What a fun skirt...it turned out cute!! Thanks for linking @Creative Itch's "Sew Cute Tuesday"!
Not only do I quilt, but I've made my share of clothes too. One thing I make alot of are boxer shorts. To keep the elastic from twisting, I topstitch it doing a long zig zag stitch while pulling the elastic taut. It will snap back in place no problem and keep that waistband flat. Hope that made sense.
