I know everyone does advent calendars, but when I saw this 12-cubby thingy at Goodwill, I snatched it up with the intention of doing something for my girls for Christmas. 25 days to wait is a long time!
The issue I ran into right away was what type of box or container would fit in the little cubbies. My silhouette machine wouldn’t cut a box big enough for what I was envisioning. Luckily, these take-out boxes from Hobby Lobby fit perfectly!
Unfortunately for my kiddos, they aren’t getting an entire take-out box full of candy. Just a few pieces.
I used a paper punch to cut out the circles, and then my Silhouette to cut the numbers. I should have just used stickers- I got glue all over myself putting the numbers on :)
After dinner we’ll open the first box and read a few scripture verses about Christ. The candy in the box doesn’t reflect any scriptures, but hopefully they’ll listen long enough to get a little better understanding of this special Holiday season.

How cute! You could fill it with tissue paper or shredded magazines so the kiddos don't think it's so empty.

Cute idea! I don't think I would ever be able to envisage something like that
Great idea! I'm still trying to find the "perfect: advent calendar. It's so hard!
What a cute idea love it.
How lucky were you to find that! I hate people like you, who can walk into thrift stores and find gold.
No, I don't really hate you, actually. But you know what I mean. :)
Very very cute.
Im with Jenna, I never find anything like that at my little opshop, but everyone else seems to :) It certainly looks great now with all that Christmasie colour.
What a great idea! I wish my brain was wired like yours and could see something like this at Goodwill and snatch it up with an idea already in mind! Love it
What a great idea. I'll have to do this next year!
Here is an idea for next year--because these boxes are super cute! My daughter-in-law has an advent "kit" with verses for each day and something that would go in each box which corresponds to the verse. Check out her etsy shop at "fairytale pumpkin"
