There was a time recently where the pressure of blogging was kind of getting to me. It felt like Junior High, where comparisons run rampant and you get left out of the popular crowd and there are mean girls. I hated Junior High. But I love blogging, so I had to nip that feeling in the bud if I wanted to still enjoy what I do here!
So I thought about who I am instead of what I do. And it is good to remember. I am a wife, mother, daughter, friend, believer, and teacher. I wanted to think of everything else I can be too.
BE creative.
BE friendly.
BE helpful.
BE loving.
BE forgiving.
BE yourself.
BE awesome!
And that is the best reminder we can give ourselves- that we aren’t defined by other people’s standards or by mean girls.
And a little bit of bunting never hurts, right??
I kind of laughed at the imperfect nature of this little quilt. I’m a lot of things, but perfect isn’t on the list yet ;)
Though I had a good time reflecting while sewing this up, it is actually for a friend of mine who has always been super supportive of me and my blog, always has a kind word to say and a hand to lend. She is a very talented crafter, so I had to be ok with giving her something that had flaws :) Even so, I think she of all people will understand!

that is the sweetest little quilt-and what you said is so true! I know how you feel and I hope we can all try to BE nicer, better bloggers and don't let the jealous feelings get to us. ;)

This is VERY cute. And I think your blog is lovely and it is good to just BE who you are!
Aww, so cute!
It's awesome. I love it and I'm sure the recipient will, too.
Melanie, just have to say that I wish I had half of your talent! Everything you make is amazing to me and I always think about how awesome it'd be to be able to do what you do! But... I am happy "Being" me... just have to learn how to really use my dang sewing machine!! ;)
Sooo cute :) And right on, sista!
Imperfect?? Looks perfect to me! You could totally sell these cute little things! I love this.
I can totally relate to this post.......the best one I have read lately! I have alot of mean girls in my community and get very little support here. But.........I have thought about quitting alot. But you know what?! Just like you I love blogging! I have a lot to say and I like getting it out there. If it reaches one person and helps them someway then it is all worth it. And it is great therapy for me! Keep up the good work! I love your blog....theres alot of nice girls out there too! XO

Great job!!
Just perfect - in so many ways!!
That's so cute!!! And what a great post:)!
I know EXACTLY how you feel!! And I loooove that Mimi quilt!!
Love, love, love this and love your post! I just returned from a 5-6 month blog break, because I was having those same feelings. I finally determined that I just needed to put on my big girl panties and return to blogging for the same I reasons I started my blog YEARS ago...because I enjoy it. I need to just BE me! Hugs!
Melanie-
I LOVE your blog. I have actually down scaled the number of blogs I read, again, because it can just be too much. Of the crafting blogs I kept, there are only 2 that I always read: yours and homemade by jill. Yours is my fav, and it's not just the crafting I come for, although I'm always thrilled with your quilts (I still have only started one. A disappearing 9 patch for my first child, she's three and I only ever finished the top- you inspire me) I love the personality on your blog. You are so honest and open and sincere and, well, all those things you said to be? You are! I know this is starting to sound stalkerish, but I just wanted you to know how much of you is on this blog and how delightful it is. I am now expecting my 3rd child and I love to watch you do what you love while you love your three. So please, keep it up!! And I love that little quilt!! So cute!! I've been wanting to try something like it. Thanks for posting.
Flaws? what flaws?! I love that mini-quilt. I get what you say about blogging pressures. I feel it too sometimes. Then I remind myself that if I'm not enjoying what I'm doing, there is no point in it.. so, I take a step back, reassess my priorities and come back refreshed. it might sound like business jargon, but, it really works for me.. :-) I love your blog although I found it only recently.. Keep up the good work.
Gorgeous! What a great statement :)
Love it very creative. I need to take time to sew stuff for my walls in my sewing room but that seems to always slip down the list.
I hate when those feelings come to surface. But you are right, just be you! You are amazing! I love how real you are, and seriously how hilarious you are. I love how you show moments of your daily life with 3 kids and how imperfectly perfect it all is. I have a hard time with blogs that come off as "I'm perfect" because I cannot at all relate to them haha!
Keep doing what you're doing! Love you Mel!
